Tips
Another effective way to wash fruit and vegetables is to fill a basin with clean water and to dip the fruit in the basin and swish it around in the water. This is particularly effective for grapes and other foods which have a lot of surface area that would be harder to wash thoroughly in a colander.Instead of detergents, try keeping fruits or vegetables in warm water with one or two tea spoons of salt for 5 mins and then rinse with warm water to wash out salt.
The little stickers on fruit are made of edible paper; however, it is best to remove them before washing. Otherwise, the part underneath the sticker will not be cleaned.
It's OK to use warm water, but it is better to use it when you are going to cook the fruits and vegetables.Ad WarningsHot water will cause the vegetables and fruit to shrivel, bruise or scald. Avoid using it.
